After its critically-acclaimed Broadway run and after taking home the 2012 Tony award’s Best Musical Revival trophy, Porgy and Bess embarks on its North American Tour and will land in Las Vegas as part of the stellar 2013/2014 season of The Smith Center’s Broadway Las Vegas Series. Porgy and Bess will open at The Smith Center’s Reynolds Hall on April 15, 2014 and will run in Las Vegas until April 20, 2014.
The story of Porgy and Bess is considered as one of the most exhilarating and enduring love stories in theater. Set in the fabled Catfish Row in Charleston, Bess tries to break away from her past and finds comfort and love in the arms of Porgy, a poor yet courageous cripple. However, Bess’ past finds her and she must make a big decision. With a magnificent score that includes legendary songs like I Got Plenty of Nothing and Summertime, this new and stunning staging of Porgy and Bess will surely capture the hearts of its Las Vegas audience.
Porgy and Bess plays at the Reynolds Hall of the Smith Center for the Performing Arts on April 15 to 20 (Tuesday to Sunday).
