The Helen Hayes Theatre may be its new Broadway home, but critically acclaimed musical “Rock of Ages” is no stranger to the famous New York City strip as it now stages its second year in the Great White Way. Since it opened in April 2009, “Rock of Ages” has been Broadway’s way of reliving the best of ‘80s rock music, with its crazy ‘dos, love for spandex, leather and fishnets, and its very own anthem of emotional rock songs, thanks to the likes of Journey, Reo Speedwagon, Bon Jovi, Styx, Poison, Foreigner and so many others.
“Rock of Ages” is Broadway’s own version of a chick flick, but it is also for the cheesy men out there who have built great memories to songs like “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Can’t Fight this Feeling”. It is the story of a boy meets girl, the boy was an aspiring rock singer who worked his way to be a star, while the girl was fresh off the train from a small town who had big dreams but went on to have big fumbles instead. Their love story is told through the greatest rock love songs that defined the ‘80s music scene.
